Laughter In The Rain opens! |
|
Thursday, 18 March 2010 12:22 |
Laughter In The Rain, The Neil Sedaka Story, has opened to terrific
reviews, standing ovations, full houses and is about to commence on a
mammoth UK tour! The man himself attended the premiere and loved the
show so much he canceled his flight back to the States to return again
on the Saturday! He surprised the cast and audience by getting up
onstage and singing one of his best known hits (and title track)
"Laughter In The Rain". It was an amazing night for all who witnessed
it!
Among the reviews, newshopper.co.uk said that "the show makes even the
chilliest of nights seem like a warm summers day...", while Ed Ewing of website greenwich.co.uk picked out Kieran in
particular, saying "Kieran Brown as Tony Christie singing Amarillo could
easily bring the
house down if cheesed up. And Kieran Brown (again) as Elton John could,
if camped up, run away with the night. Both scenes are kept in a lowish
key, probably for that reason."
Make sure you get your tickets before the show heads back to London!

German musical magazine "Blickpunkt" last month finally published their rather lukewarm review of "The Thorn Birds" UK tour, almost 7 months after the show ended it's run! For non German speakers, the 2 page article isn't entirely favourable, but does praise the high quality of the performances, and features a selection of colour photographs showing Helen Anker as Meggie Cleary, Matthew Goodgame as Ralph De Bricassart, and Andrea Miller as Mary Carson.

UK based musical theatre magazine Musical Stages last month published a full page review of Over The Threshold's London run at Jermyn Street Theatre in it's 15th birthday issue. The review is mostly favourable, highlighting the "excellent" singing voices of the cast, even if the actors native accents rather irritated the reviewer a little...!
